Marvel Mystery Night: Secret Invasion

An non-linear, interactive Zoom performance to find which character is secretly an alien Skrull

Spencer led and co-directed this event partnering with creator, Feras Halabi. Spencer assisted with the conceptual approach of how to successfully create an interactive show in a virtual setting, wrote several scenes and improvisation outlines, helped lead technical elements, and organized the 50+ script. Imagery, descriptions, and acknowledgment below.

The Audience votes what to see

This story was a non-linear one, the audience voted on which security camera footage to watch and in which order, changing how clues would be revealed. Scenes set up information and clues that were related to other scenes so that clues would be revealed or overlooked, depending on how the audience votes.

Breakout Room Improv

The show’s intermission let audience members move through breakout rooms to visit characters and ask questions. This allowed the audience to have differing degrees of knowledge and varying leads on suspects as each room revealed new hints at new times. The actors each had a list of rules for what could and could not be revealed, and then the rest was just improvisation!

Teamwork or Solo Mission?

The end of the performance allowed the audience to review amongst each other before making their final guess. Those who guessed correctly were hailed as winners, creating the challenge to share and receive just enough information without giving away too much of what you know. Once guests were cast, the actors continued the story revealing the suspect, incorporating the audience names who guessed correctly in the show.
